Tenant Right to Counsel Convening

Colleen Foley is the Executive Director of the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee, a public interest law firm serving Milwaukee County for over a century.  Legal Aid’s team of 60 staff, including 35 lawyers, provide free civil legal services to qualifying Milwaukee County residents on issues including housing security, consumer law, health and wealth matters, immigration, and court-appointed guardians ad litem for at-risk children. Legal Aid launched Eviction Free MKE on September 1, 2021, through a public-private partnership funded by local governmental and philanthropic dollars. At its 3+ mark, Eviction Free MKE has served over 28,211 individuals in Milwaukee, including 12,569 children. Estimated fiscal and economic activity benefits of the program over 3 years is $23.3 million.
