About me
AmyLinda Nevarez is the Tenant Outreach and Education Manager for Stay Housed LA at SAJE (Strategic Actions for a Just Economy). Born and raised in Southeast Los Angeles to immigrant working-class parents, AmyLinda has firsthand experience with the housing struggles faced by many in her community. As a teen, she experienced eviction while living with her family and ultimately became unhoused during high school. While working her first office job at a property management company, she witnessed the systemic injustices tenants face, gaining a unique perspective from within the landlord's operations. Driven by a passion for justice, she began organizing tenants, empowering them to advocate for their rights. Her efforts included sharing and utilizing resources provided by Housing Justice Organizations, including SAJE, even before formally joining the organization. When the opportunity arose, she embraced the chance to further support vulnerable communities through her current role at SAJE and Stay Housed LA, where she continues to fight alongside her community for equitable tenant rights and housing justice.
