Kyle Nelson is a Senior Policy and Research Analyst at Strategic Actions for a Just Economy (SAJE).
Since graduating from UCLA with a Ph.D. in Sociology in 2022, Nelson has worked for SAJE, the US Department of Veterans Affairs, and UCLA Veterans Initiatives and Partnerships conducting research along the nexus of eviction, homelessness prevention policy, and health and housing service provision for Veterans with substance use disorders and serious mental health issues. Over the last decade, Nelson’s research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, covered by print and radio journalists, and cited in policy advocacy.
He co-founded the Renters’ Right to Counsel Coalition and is currently on the steering committee of the Keep LA Housed coalition. At SAJE, Nelson’s research supports advocacy to strengthen tenants' access to justice and local tenant protections for residential and commercial renters at the city, county, and state levels.
